1. Who Can Participate?
NoMI Flag Football is open to boys and girls ages 4–17 from Petoskey, Harbor Springs, Alanson, Boyne Falls, Boyne City, Charlevoix, Traverse City, East Jordan, Pellston, and surrounding Northern Michigan communities.

2. Is this a contact football league?
No. NFL FLAG is 100% non-contact, making it one of the safest ways for young athletes to learn football skills and strategy.

3. When does the youth season start?

First practices: April 6, 2026

First games: April 11, 2026

Season ends: May 16 (regular season)

Playoff tournament: June 6th

4. What is the cost to participate in the NFL FLAG youth program?
Registration is $95 per player, which includes:

NFL FLAG jersey

NFL FLAG belt & flags
-
NoMI Flag Football pocketless shorts
-
NoMI Flag Football clear plastic water bottle

NoMI Flag Football sticker
-
All practices and games (6 regular season games, and at least 1 championship tournament game)

5. Are scholarships available for the youth program?
Yes. We believe every child deserves the opportunity to play sports. Financial need–based scholarships are available.

6. How many games will my child play?
Each player is guaranteed:

6 regular season games

At least 1 championship tournament game

7. How many practices per week?
Recommended practice frequency depends on age:

Ages 4–6: 1 practice/week

Ages 7–10: 1–2 practices/week

Ages 11–17: 2–3 practices/week

Coaches choose their practice day, and time.

8. What days are practices & games held?
Practices will be on a weekday evening/s. All games are played on Saturdays at 3pm and 4p as player registrations continue growing. Exact practice days will be decided by the coach once the season begins. We will email you a full schedule towards the end of March with exact details and dates.

9. Where are practices and games held?
Games and practices will take place at Curtis Field in Petoskey (1650 Standish Ave, Petoskey). However as we see sign ups from surrounding communities we are working side by side with local Parks & Rec departments on reserving fields so parents don't have to drive their players to Curtis Field during the week, just on game days. More information on that as we continue reserving fields.

10. Do players need special equipment?
Players must provide:

Mouthguard (required)

Cleats or athletic shoes

Weather-appropriate clothing

Players receive NoMI Flag Football branded pocketless shorts included with registration.

11. Can players request to be on the same team as friends or siblings?
We do our best to accommodate sibling requests and carpool considerations, but cannot guarantee friend pairing due to competitive balance.

12. Are teams co-ed?
Yes! NFL FLAG and the NoMI Flag Football welcome both boys and girls in all divisions.

13. What rules does the league follow?
We follow official NFL FLAG rules, with a few local modifications for age and safety. All rule documents are shared with parents and coaches. 5 v 5.

14. Will coaches & officials undergo background checks?
Yes. All coaches & officials must:

Pass a background check

Complete NFL FLAG certification

Attend a league training meeting

Player safety is our top priority.
​
15. What if games are canceled due to weather?
Flag football can be played in light rain & snow. Games are paused for thunder/lightning (30-minute delay). Make-up games will be decided as our season schedule dictates.

16. What is your refund policy?​
Full Refund: A 100% refund is available for any cancellation made before March 31st.
No Refunds will be issued after March 31st, as league expenses have already been incurred and rosters, uniforms, and schedules have been finalized.

17. Are There Playoffs?
Yes. The season concludes with a one-day championship tournament called The Pinnacle Championship. Teams are seeded based on regular-season record, all teams play at least one game, and the event is single elimination. The championship game is played at a set, announced time, with the winner receiving The Pinnacle Crystal.
